Why do we continue to insult our brain? I know I insulted my brain for years. The same foods that make our middles round hurt the one muscle in the body that can cause the greatest impact on your daily life, your mind.
If I had an opportunity to eliminate one ingredient from your diet right now and forever it would be refined sugar. Anything made with High Fructose Corn Syrup or similar sugars needs to be eliminated. This chemical was unheard of before 1980 and now the US makes about 17.5 billion pounds a year. This chemical has been linked to increase appetite, promote obesity more than regular sugar, and more addictive than cocaine.
This is a legal drug that can lead to diabetes and inflammation in the brain. The problem is high fructose corn syrup is in a significant amount of food that we eat including some food that is considered staples in your dietary cupboard. Here are other reasons why high fructose corn syrup is harmful to the brain:
- Sugar uses up your body’s store of vitamins and minerals without providing any in return
- High sugar consumption is tied to lower IQ, anxiety, aggressive behavior, hyperactivity, depression, fatigue, and learning difficulties
- Sugar can cause a crusting on your brain just like a crème brule.
I don’t understand how chemicals that have this negative of an effect on the body and mind are legal. There is almost no way to get chemicals like this banned without a significant amount of deaths directly attributed to it. Therefore each and every one of us has to take the first step and stop the consumption of high fructose corn syrup and similar refined sugars.
The elimination of these types of chemicals in our diets will make both our minds and bodies stronger. Each and every day we should be striving to ensure that our body and mind are always in their best working order. It’s time to eliminate the refined sugars and turn ourselves healthy again.
